When Passion and Work Collide (in the Best Way Possible)
There’s nothing better than when something you love in your non-work world and your actual job collide. I’ve been lucky enough to have this happen throughout my career—Ben & Jerry’s ice cream, Star Wars, and Taylor Swift, to name a few.
But these past few months, it hit even closer to home. What started as a casual “sure, I’ll help with the team Instagram” for my sons’ hockey team turned into a really fun creative outlet—designing posters and trading cards, making game-day content, and video montages. My older son put his foot down on any TikTok-style videos, but there’s still some season left to wear him down. Stay tuned.
That’s the magic of working with brands, products, and services that align with what you’re already into. When you genuinely enjoy what you're promoting, the ideas come easier, the creativity flows, and—bonus—it never feels like a job.
It’s why some of my favorite projects have been the ones that don’t even feel like work.
;TLDR Mixing passion with work isn’t just more fun—it makes the work better. (And if I can get my son to agree to one hype video by the end of the season, I’ll consider that my biggest marketing win yet.)
